AV1 Documentation

NextCore Concepts

Last updated 1 year ago

AV1 is a decentralized identity ecosystem that provides a comprehensive solution for managing and verifying digital identities using and . The ecosystem consists of three core modules:

  1. Assurance Studio - Verifier service for authentic data

  2. Verifiable Ink - Authentic data issuer service

  3. 1Keep - Wallet app for managing authentic data, identity, and more

AV1 is currently in closed alpha development however this documentation will eventually cover the primary endpoints and applications available in each of these three modules.

For now learn about the open source libraries under heavy development by Aviary Tech

And read up on some of the core concepts of the AV1 ecosystem.

Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) are unique identifiers that individuals can create and manage independently, without needing a centralized authority. Enabled by cryptographic methods, DIDs offer enhanced privacy and control, fostering a digital ecosystem where individuals are the primary controllers of their digital identities.

VCs are digital certifications used in decentralized and self-sovereign identity models, allowing entities to present authenticated claims about themselves. They involve an issuer, holder, and verifier and are critical for enhancing digital trust, privacy, and interoperability across various fields like education, employment, healthcare, and finance.

DIDComm Messaging, built on Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), is a communication approach that not only supports individual and sequential messaging but also integrates them into larger protocols and workflows, ensuring trust preservation. It overcomes limitations of existing communication mechanisms that rely heavily on centralized entities. By empowering individuals to operate as peers to web servers, DIDComm enables secure, private, decentralized, and transport-independent higher-order protocols. These protocols facilitate various activities, from credential verification and contract negotiation to voting, fostering a more versatile and equitable digital environment.
